POLICE "TOO BUSY"

Hi All.

Just a story received from a US cop.

An elderly man in one of the Southern States called 911 to report 3 burglars ransacking his garden shed. He was told that they [the police] were too busy to respond immediately and would get there as soon as they were able to. The man put down the phone and waited a few minutes before calling 911 again. This time he said "You know those 3 burglars I just reported?" "Well I have

Fellow officers attend Franklin trooper's memorial service

An estimated 1,500 to 1,700 police officers attended Trooper Paul G. Richey's funeral Sunday, a majority of them state troopers.

Speaking to their grief was a chaplain to state police Troop E, Brian Kelly.

Though a far, distant second to his wife, children and parents, the troopers who worked with Richey were a second family to him, Kelly said.… Continue

Brotherhood of the Badge is a National Police Memorial Organization started by fellow Police Officer's in 2007

WELCOME TO BROTHERHOOD OF THE BADGE

Brotherhood of the Badge is a Police Officer/Public Safety Memorial Organization founded by a fellow Police Officer in 2007. We work together with the families and agencies of fallen LEO's to provide what we can. Whether that be financial support, assistance with putting together a memorial service or any other way the agency/family needs.

BOTB is here so that no fallen officer is ever forgot. The word "brotherhood" has a very strong meaning. It means being there for each other during the good and bad times. It means answering the phone when a fellow leo you have never meet in person needs a friendly voice to talk to. It means assisting our brothers and sisters with help for those times we think we cant go on. It means offering training "on our own time" to each other to ensure everyone we can reach stays safe. It means making sure that the family members left behind never have to worry about stuff that needs fixed around the house, mowing the lawn, etc.. we are a family and families take care of each other. Being a family is more than just saying the words it is the act of physically doing your part to take care of each other.

Yes we do sell t-shirts, decals, badges, etc... but to be honest with all of you I could care less about that stuff. That is not what BOTB is about. Sure its nice to have those things so others can see and maybe even bring more brothers and sisters to BOTB but those are all materialistic thngs are by no means are going to save a LEO's life. Ya we do donate proceeds from the merchandise sold when it is available... but that is not all the time. Most occasions when we learn of a LEO who needs help we will send a message to the group making them aware of the situation and were they can send money to directly. We work as a bridge a lot of the time for our members who need help we have found this is the most proficent way to do this. Collectively BOTB has over 4000 members in over 40 countries so we do have a large group of brothers and sisters we can reach out to. Maybe you are an officer and your dept cant afford to purchase gear for you i.e a vest, holster, etc... we will reach out to our members and WE WILL get you the items needed to do your job safely.

Please tell your co-workers about your organization BOTB. The best way to make sure BOTB is used to its full potential is to stay involved. If a member is going to sign up and then never again return to BOTB we would rather you not waste anyones time. We would rather 100 active members than 10,000 members are not.

Get involved, join some groups, chat, meet and make friends. Get involved in the training forums, we are fortunate to have a member who is very well educated in all aspects of LE training that volunteers his time to train us all. This is not a public forum so you can feel comfertable here. Helping our fellow brothers and sisters is a blessing.

Visit the Officer Down group and leave a reflection whether it be short or long that is how we keep the memory of our officers alive. Go back and visit them on occasion. Here is a way to think about it... if that were you on that page dont you think your family would appreciate it. Please dont ever think your comments go unheard.

Everyone who works to keep BOTB going is either a retired of active LEO... not some guy in an office who has never put on a badge. I have always believed the best organizations are those ran by the indivuals in the field.

I would like to personally invite you to join our new site/group and start meeting fellow Police Officers from around the world today. This is a great way to meet with Law Enforcement Officers from all around the world, share your stories, experiances, etc...

Once again welcome to the New Official Brotherhood of the Badge Members Site. We hope you enjoy it. Welcome to the family.

Stay Safe and God Bless.

MEMBERS ONLY OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER

We are excited to announce that the first official BOTB Members Only Newsletter is now available. Thank you to many of our members who assisted us in putting together this wonderful newsletter together.

We are looking for members who would like to become involved in the newsletter by writing articles pertaining to Law Enforcement training, gear, technology, etc... we are also looking for members who would like to write a short history of their department. This is something we are going to be starting in the next newsletter. Each newsletter we hope to spotlight a different department. We have members covering over 35 countries and that is a lot of LE history as well as a great opportunity for all our members to learn about LE elsewhere.

If you wish to write an article on any other subject matter i.e. an officer you would like to give praise to or any other subject matter please let us know.

The newsletter is designed for you our members and we would like you all to be a part of it.

We also have a section for classifieds if you have some old duty gear you no longer need please let us know and we will add it to the classifieds section. The gear just collecting dust in your closet may be a vital asset to another officer. You are also welcome to submit other items you would like.

We are looking for advertisers (related to LE) to assist us with the cost of producing the newsletter. BOTB offers a great and cheap way to reach out to thousands of Public Safety Officials across the world. If you are interested in advertising you can contact us at brotherhoodofthebadge@comcast.net.

We hope you all enjoy the newsletter. The newsletter will be produced on a bi-weekly basis.

God Bless and Stay Safe!
